Casey Donovan is set to rock Darlinghurst at Stonewall in April 2011 with her Big, Beautiful and Sexy show.
Donovan’s show, set to open on 6 April 2011, features an enchanting repertoire of great classics by some of the world’s Big, Beautiful & Sexy recording artists, including Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Chaka Khan, Beth Ditto and more. The repertoire will be complete with some of Donovan’s original songs and anecdotes about the rollercoaster of fame, from Idol to The Sapphires. The show has been re-designed exclusively for Stonewall.
Donovan, who recently won a Best Supporting Actress Award at the Daegu International Musical Festival for her work on the hit stage show The Sapphires, is looking forward to the residency. “Being able to do this residency is very exciting for me. It gives me the opportunity to share more of myself with the audience…. I can’t wait!” Says Donovan.
Donovan will perform approximately 11 shows during the month of April at Stonewall Hotel. Stonewall is one of Australia’s most established venues in Darlinghurst, in the hub of the Sydney gay scene.
In stylish surroundings, including grand chandeliers and plenty of couches, Donovan will perform her Big, Beautiful & Sexy show in the Cocktail Bar on Level 1. For the duration of Donovan’s stay at Stonewall, the Cocktail Bar will be renamed the Big, Beautiful & Sexy room.
“Stonewall Hotel is Sydney’s Premier Gay Venue and is very excited to have Casey Donovan performing throughout April. The Cocktail bar will be transformed into the Big, Beautiful and Sexy room and the place to see this amazing show. To have one of Australia’s best voices in the heart of Oxford Street will be a must for everyone to see.” Says Glenn Hansen, Promotions & Marketing Manager for Stonewall Hotel.
Since launching her Big, Beautiful & Sexy show in 2010, Donovan has received rave reviews for her performance. The on-going Big, Beautiful & Sexy Australian tour, has already seen Donovan perform to sell out crowds at some of the country’s most coveted venues and participate in events such as Adelaide Festival, Brisbane Festival, The Rocks Festival of the Voice and Yabun Festival.
And her performance at her new home will be no different, except a little more outrageous than before!
Donovan will be joined by singer-songwriter Joe Moore as her special guest for the month-long residency.
The show will be presented at 8pm two nights a week – Wednesday and Thursday, with an early evening performance (5pm) on the Sunday. Tickets may be purchased through www.moshtix.com.au and in person at Stonewall on the night of each performance.
