One of the country’s most amazing vocalists Casey Donovan continues her acclaimed Big Beautiful & Sexy tour throughout 2011. Donovan, who recently won a Best Supporting Actress Award at the Daegu International Musical Festival for her work on the hit stage show The Sapphires, is looking forward to taking her show to the audiences of Australia. The show will not only include Casey’s recent singles Big, Beautiful & Sexy and Last Regret, but also a retrospective of her career and the big, beautiful and sexy woman from the music industry who have inspired her in the past.
Since launching her Big, Beautiful & Sexy show in 2010, Donovan has received rave reviews for her performance. The on-going Big, Beautiful & Sexy Australian tour, has already seen Donovan perform to sell-out crowds at some of the country’s most coveted venues and participate in events such as Adelaide Festival, Brisbane Festival, The Rocks Festival of the Voice and Yabun Festival.
Donovan’s forthcoming tour dates will certainly not be what critics will expect from the former Australian Idol winner. Keeping in line with the ethos behind her new single, Donovan says the shows will embody the same tenacity and spirit. “The tour is going to be a showcase of Big, Beautiful & Sexy showgirls that I idolize, and a night of great music,” she says. “It will be the story of my life, and also include some big show numbers from the likes of Aretha Franklin, Mama Cass, Queen Latifah and more.” While this might be a risky maneuver for many a performer, belting out songs from some of the best in the business isn’t a daunting challenge for Donovan, nor should it be. She aptly proved her worth as one of the most impressive female vocalists on the current music scene when she was only 16 and fast forward five years and those amazing vocals have only got better.
Already 2011 has been a busy year for this amazing performer. She’s not only doing a residency at Sydney’s coveted venue StoneWall, and support for one of the legends of the international music scene, Cyndi Lauper, but will also play the role of Mama Cass in the new Australian Musical Flowerchildren – The Mamas and Papas Story. Add to this some newly announced tour dates for the next part of 2011, and Casey Donovan is having a stellar year so far!
