It has just been announced that Casey Donovan will be a part of this years’ Curvy Couture Roadshow (CCR), as part of the Cultural Program for this year’s Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF).

Casey is the ambassador and will also be MC the event which is sure to give s plus size ladies the unprecedented chance to indulge their love of fashion.

CCR, which will be part runway show, part fashion market, is the creation of a group of dedicated plus size fashion lovers. They founded Curvy Couture Inc, a notfor- profit organisation dedicated to raising the profile of fashion in sizes 14+ in Australia. CCR will be the first event its size held as part of the VAMFF Cultural Program.

Casey Donovan, April 2012Casey said she couldn’t wait to be involved in the event and that she is looking forward to seeing the showcase of plus size fashion the organisers have assembled. “I’m excited to see all of the great designers, and beautiful ladies strut their stuff on the catwalk!”

In addition to hosting the event, Casey will also perform her inspirational anthem for plus size women everywhere, ‘Big, Beautiful Sexy’ and sign copies of her hotly anticipated memoirs, released through New Holland Publishers.

A key part of the roadshow will be the runway shows, where professional plus sized models will take to the runway alongside street models who were selected in January at an open casting call. These women, who range in size from 14 to 26, have been practicing their walk and poses ready for their runway debut, all under the guidance of Australia’s leading plus size modelling agency, Bella Model Management, who are one of the headline sponsors of the event. All the models will have their hair and makeup done by staff and students from BIBA and Elly Lukas, who have generously donated their time to the event.

CCR comes at an exciting time for Australia’s plus size fashion industry as the demand for high fashion, high quality pieces increases and more designer brands launch their plus sized collections. It is no surprise that the Curvy Couture Roadshow is garnering a lot of attention from the plus-size community, both in Australia and internationally, especially given that the average Australian women is now a size 14-16.

“The response to the event has been incredible … Ultimately we want to show women that, fashion is for everyone, and size is no barrier to looking good & feeling great,”  says Curvy Couture Inc President, Kate Millett.

The Curvy Couture Roadshow takes place March 30th from 12pm at the Arts House Meat Market, North Melbourne. Early bird tickets from $20+bf via Ticketek.
